Florida Animal Friend awards annual grants for spay and neuter programs of up to $25,000 per organization to municipal and nonprofit agencies in the state of Florida that provide free or low-cost spay and neuter services to cats and dogs. Grant applications are available every January 1st, and the deadline for submission is April 1st. In August, we announce the winners of these nonprofit animal rescue grants, and the grant funds are released on August 15th. In the United States, Roughly 6–8 million homeless cats and dogs enter shelters every year. Unfortunately, we know that more than 2.7 million otherwise healthy animals are euthanized annually, and that there are many more homeless pets that never make it to shelters. So, how can we bring that number down? The most effective way to decrease the number of animals put to sleep each year is by increasing access to free and low-cost spay and neuter programs.
