As the only companion animal welfare agency in a county of 67,000 Lake City Humane Society is Columbia County’s goto agency for the citizens’ needs.They also hold the contract for animal services for the county, one with a 22% poverty rate. The Florida Animal Friend grant that was received in 2014 was incredibly successful, and LCHS still has people asking for vouchers to sterilize their pets.
